Up relatively early for 'Ely Eel Day'. Keft an hour early as Lou wanted to get to station really early. When realised we popped home & added bigger coats & a corset for Lou. Got to Ely around 09.50 & had a quick walkabout before meeting at Peacock's.
Amazingly Jamie & Mags were on time! Peacocks was really nice & had around 50 types of tea, including ones named after 'Holmsian' characters. I had "Mycroft"- very smokey aroma and slightly smokey taste. Lou has "Moriarty" - a mild chai tea.
While we there the Eel day parade went past.
It was good to chat to Sue, Phil etc. Afterwards we went to see the set-up of the green while everyone else went to the antiques place next door. Most places were still setting up but did see a tank of eels & Lou bottled out of trying eel (did get a goat curry from Lincolnshire). As there were only kids fucking about we went to the antiques warehouse ourselves. It's a really ace place and an Aladdin's cave of stuff. Got a military hat for £10: could have spent £££s. We plan to go back, maybe at Christmas for presents.
Returned to the park for more shit dancing by kids and beer/cider. Had "Eel Day" & "Larksong"by Mile Tree Brewery (est 2012 in Wisbech) and blackcurrent cider form another local place. After more chats we went ti t "The Cutter Inn" - saw a piano that plays itself. Home via Tesco's & Lou's office. Changed, went to the Isaac & scared the shit out of Heather who was painting her nails & didn't see me come in. Watched the cricket then popped over to see how Lou & her knee was doing. She was nowhere to be found in the flat. She was in the Isaac, having gone round the corner as I went in the back.
