A bright, if chilly, start to the day. Went for breakfast and then back to wear new boots. Feel a bit funny but not sure if supposed to be done up to the top or if just not used to tongue on top of foot.
German book was back in after doing another u-turn and deciding he did want to use a higher quality/different file after all.
Bruce in and, apparently in the grip of another hot flush, opened the windows.
FFS!
Just started printing the re-order forms when Bruce remembered that Emma had come in while I was on leave saying that she wanted to make some changes making to them. Saw Emma and she said they wanted to make a load of changes to the ways of re-ordering list.
Why the fuck does nobody tell me anything until I'm half way through things?!!
Told her to liaise with Phil.
Called Phil to give him a heads-up that he would be getting a call from Emma/Vince.
Asked Bruce if he'd called then engineer for the colour machine & he admitted he hadn't - some story about engineers getting charged but mre to do with wanting to do a job for a conference in 1 months time (ignoring my job that's needed much earlier & which I'd said would be ready by the end of the week).
Watched some of the cricket. England had a terrible start: at one point they were 30-4! They recovered strongly to reach 354-7 by the end of the day.
Went to the beer festival again and, the shock of it, sat outside in glorious sunshine! Heather made it and tried cider then switched to beer (repeat for next few hours).
Best of the night were:
Milton
Waterbeach,
est. 1999
Marcus Aurelius de la Rosa
(7.8%)
The acknowledged delights of Marcus Aurelius are
further enhanced with the addition of Port from our friends at Quinta de
la Rosa. Velvety, rich and powerful, this is a special release for
Cambridge Beer Festival.
My notes: Fuck me! Very strong & rich. Can taste the port.
Moncada
London
est. 2011
Notting Hill Ruby Rye
(5.2%)
A robust ruby ale made with rye complemented by a fruity hop aroma.
My notes: Caramel aroma. Rich, deep bitter taste. Proper.
Binghams
Ruscombe, Berks
est. 2010
Doodle Stout
(5.0%)
A dark stout with a delicious blend of dark malts
to provide a complexity in character which draws you in for another
sip. Named after the brewery dog called Stout that happens to be a
labradoodle.
My notes: Dark chocolate/coffee aroma (mochachino?). Sweet start and dry finish.
Lou (and Heather) had a cider from Hallets ('PX Sherryy Cask" ?) that had been matured in sherry casks that tasted of a dry fino - lovely.
