Amber Rudd, January 2015: “We have agreed an outright ban on fracking in national parks, sites of special scientific interest and areas of outstanding natural beauty.”
December 2015: Tories push through rules allowing fracking without proper parliamentary debate or scrutiny.

Leicester v Chelski
Dear "Special Once"
Also kudos to the away fans who in a display of excellent gallows humour, sang "You’re nothing special, we lose every week.”

That's embarrassing
Had Kate come in for the 2nd consecutive day* to kick Bruce into doing the job he's paid to do rather than pissing off to play at some gig or other (which is what he's actually been doing).
Today she told him that Sue is getting close to being very angry that nothing/very little has been done on the paperwork for the new copier tendering stuff.
* On Monday he came in at 09.35 and left at 12.45. It hardly seemed to be worth the effort.

Trump: Noun. See Arse, Dickhead & Cunt
So Donald fuckwomble announced that if he's elected all Muslims will be barred from entering the US. Presumably this includes any serving overseas in the army etc.
The Republican heirarchy have finally had enough & disassociated themselves. Jeb Bush called him "Unhinged". A mayor called him an "Asshole".
An unrepentant cocksucker went n TV to claim that parts of London is so full of radical muslims the police 'fear for their lives'. This lead to an ace game of jokes on twitter...

Manchester Untied
Manchester United were knocked out of the Champion's League last night.
A message to Will, Louis Van Gaal etc

Ouch!
Walking over to Lou's office on Friday I caught my foot in a pothole & fell flat on my face. Damage = bruised& twisted knee, bruised elbow & hand + calf strain.
Got loads of chocolate though (when van finally turned up):
Did have a globe for the tree, which I left with Lou. The CEN photographer stole it and gave it to a kid.
Hope Santa brings him coal.
And the worst man flu in history.

Steampunks In Space
Trip to Leicester was going OK. Until some mad old hag got on and insisted on sitting in her seat. So I got up and shifted the bloke that was sitting in ours - he was well fucked off so I told him to take it up with the stupid slag who'd shifted us. Whole carriage was disrupted for this stupid cunt - hope she gets major bum squits all through December and all over her house.
Got to hotel quickly - it's got odd decor! Stone effigy of a dead knight under the mirror in one corner and an Egyptian sarcophagus in the other. Room was ready so we changed and set out for the National Space Centre (MSC). What sould have been a short walk became longer as the bridge we'd intended to use was closed for repairs. Ended up walking along and then coming back on ourselves.
The NSC was brilliant with lots to see. Saw Sue & Barry as we checked in then had a wander. Selling area was quite small but rickets were huge. Went over to the pumping station next door and saw Ash & Cerri then Phil & Sam. Phil asked if we'd heard about Angie? The way he said it, it was if she'd got a new job or won the lottery. It was a shock when he said that she'd had a heart attack & had a quadruple bypass operation! She'd gone to the Dr with chest pains and was rushed to hospital. It seems that a number of arteries were so blocked she wasn't well for ages. She's at home and walking about thankfully. Had a look around the station & were chatting when remembered that we were supposed to be watching a show in the planetarium - we missed the 1st 10 minutes but what we saw was good.
Back to the lounge for a hip-hop writing session with Professor Elemental which was good fun. Met up with Jamie, Magz & Lady B. Stayed there to sample an assortment of gins. Walked back to the hotel & went for a walk around the area. Got changed & caught a cab to the NSC for the evening. The show was in the planetarium & started with two ace magicians, Morgan & Webb, (who clearly hadn't been warned about working with the Powell's). Then there was a monologue: letters from the Time Travellor's landlady which was quite good.
This was followed by 45 minute break where we could play blackjack, roulette etc. Lou won at blackjack thanks to Jamie telling the dealer that it was her birthday. She also won at roulette.
Then it was back to the planetarium for Professor Elemental. It was a great show (even got my head measured by him during a freestyle rap). Booked a taxi that didn't turn up for 40 minutes. We were the 2nd last to leave.
On Sunday we got to the NSC early so we could have a look around before it got too busy. It's ace and we went up to the top of the rocket & had a go at landing the lunar module on a simulator. I did 2 perfect touchdowns (and 1 top score of the day for fuel saving etc). Lou crashed her's beacuse she was bored.
Had tea and a nice scone in the lounge while listening to Count Rostov's pun-laden radio play. Went shopping & Lou got herself a new watch. Played with the crane in the "Tranquility Base" area then back to the lounge for more Professor Elemental.
Walked back to the hotel & planned to get some food before the taxi arrived but it started to absolutely pour down. We're talking biblical rain here!
Got to the station and waited in the cold for the train. It was due to depart at 16.19. That became 16.20 but not a problem. Then some utter cunt (may their face get bitten off by a rabid dog & their genitals get cancer) decided to change the platform from 1A to 4A! 45 seconds notice from due departure time...
This meant that everybody had to sprint up 2 flights of stairs, across a bridge, down 2 flights of stairs and along the platform. Sprint not helped by the stupid old bat who stopped in front of me to see where here mate was. As we ran along the platform the twat with the whistle was blowing it. We just made it on but there were certainly people who would not have (eg old man who took the lift with his suitcase).
Found a seat and then discovered that a bunch of drunken, bog-dweller's with no volume control were sat behind us. Grrrrr.
Got into Ely on time and managed to get 1st bust so back in Cambridge around 19.00. Fed the cats then went over to the Isaac for food (hadn't eaten very much over the weekend).
Ended up staying for the quiz. We came joint 1st! Would have won if Lou had heard me spell 'Bey' and not write 'Bai' on the paper. Girls behind very entertaining too. For example:
i) What's a female swan called? A Swanette
ii) Who is the new England Rugby Manager? Simon Cowell.

Procurement
So had the meeting with Helen from procurement about replacing the printer(s). Surprise, surprise it has to go out to tender.
We can include Ricoh via the Crescent Agreement but we can't specify them (or details such as 'must have a fiery rip). As Bruce has been told more than once.
He's not happy at all (his face was an absolute picture)!
How it goes (if I've remembered this right)
We have to set criteria and then that get's sent off to a number of companies inviting them to tender. They submit proposals and, if there are any questions on either side there is a time put aside for this. We then get to score the tender details and then a supplier is chosen. All in all it should take about 6 weeks (exactly the same as last time Bruce was told this in June 2014). That means we're looking at an order around mid-February for delivery mid-late March (ie when I'm off doing big graduations).
After she'd gone he complained that she walways wants things to go out to tender & that there must be an easier way.
Hahahahahahaha!
He's wasted a year trying to get Ricoh in without going through the procurement procedure and now he's in a strop because he's been blocked.

Cadwins Curies
So we ordered om of these on Tuesday as they finally had something I fancied. We were told that it would be delivered between 18.30 & 20.30 on Thursday.
Went home and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
At 20.20-25 I went out to call them and find out where it was. I was told that we were one of the last drops and that it would be there before 20.30 (which seemed unlikely). Was offerred the driver's number but i) had nowt to write it down & ii) he would be driving.
He finally turned up about 20.40-ish and even then was around the corner. He did apologize but have to say I was still very unimpressed by this (we could have had a sit down meal in Cocum in the time) & tweeted as such...
By the time it actually turned up we were a bit too hungry to eat so went over to the Isaac. Anna came up with a weird saying: "Play with matches, you'll wet yourself." She swears this is a saying in Poland but we think she was just screwing with Sophie's brain. Dushan claims he's heard it to but I'm not sure I believe him...
[Update: the curry was OK but nowhere near as good as one from the place on Mitchum's Corner]

Busy Tuesday (17/11/15)
It was the Techtalks event today. Went to the 3D one but didn't learn a whole lot. Did howver get to hold an exact replica of the William Webb Ellis Trophy.
Canon scanned the original with a 3D laser, 3d printed it and then plated it.
After the talks had finished there was beer & pizza in the foyer. Lou came over for it. Sue overordered the pizza somewhat. After lots had been eaten and taken home there was still loads left. I suggested taking it to Jimmy's Night Shelter. When I called they were happy but couldn't get anybody to come pick it up. I suggested we get a taxi and Sue ordered it on the University account. There were 43 boxes left at 19.00!
We put them in bin bags for ease of moving. When we got to Jimmy's Lou went in while I waited. The bloke inside was happy with the bag then surprised when Lou told him there were 3 more full bags outside. When we got them in the residents were like meercats (heads popping up followed by the rest of their bodies).
A good deed done!
Walking home was a 'mare though! The wind is always bad around the fire station - add high winds from storm Barney and Lou was stopped dead and I could only move forwards with extreme effort.
Stopped in the Mitre then onto the Isaac. Missed both England goals as was talking to Heather, who was watching the tennis in the pool room. She said that the crowd singing the french anthem and the players mixing together for a minutes silence was brilliant.
After the game we went outside to see that the sign for the Isaac was hanging on by one corner. Helped Dick with the ladder while Dushan climbed up and ripped the sign off. Dread to think what would have happened if it had blown off....

Paris
We were in the Isaac after the England game when Sky Sports News ran a headline reporting explosions had been heard in the Stad de France where France were playing Germany in a friendly.
Went onto twitter and read of multiple attacks in Paris. When we went home we put the news on and found that many had been callously shot while enjoying a drink or a meal on a mild Friday night.
Even worse, after murdering so many, the attackers went to the Bataclan venue and opened fire, killing and maiming randomly. So far the combined death toll is 132 with 350 injured, 100 critically.
Some faith in humanity was restored by Parisians using the#PorteOuverte hastag offering shelter to stranded
The stories that came out over the weekend were both horrific and amazing.
Heysel survivor survies again.

Further FUP policies
- All forests to be sold off & the “Right to Roam” laws revoked (we don’t want preachers of hate radicalizing swathes of trees!).
- David Cameron & his descendants to get a pig’s head on the 1st day of Michaelmass term at Oxford in perpetuity. The pig to be delivered live on TV by Boris Johnson & his descendants
- Applicants to high office required to duel for the job. 1st one to draw blood from the opponents torso gets the job. [As a bonus, this will make “The Apprentice” more entertaining then some rectum monkey’s trying to flog tat and being shouted at by a fat old bloke]
- Union strike laws to be toughened up with a minimum of 99.5% of the eligible members voting to be considered legal with unions required to give a minimum of 6 months notice so businesses can get ready.
- Pubs allowed to serve beer in quarts and flagons. All foreign wine banned and replaced by British wine (which will have become tremendous due global warming). Want lager or poncy cider with ice? Fuck You!
The Fuck You Party
I'm going to launch a new political party - The Fuck You! Party.
In the main our policies will just be the same as the Tories:
* Worried about personal privacy? Fuck You! What have you got to hide? Are you a terrorist peado?
** This will get rid of all those Johnny Foreigners and give a massive boost to the ancestry research community.
*** Special Terrorist Assessment, Surveillance and Intelligence
In the main our policies will just be the same as the Tories:
- To poor to eat? Fuck You!
- To old & poor to heat your home? Fuck You!
- Disabled? Fuck You!
- Young and unemployed? Fuck You!
- All phone & computer companies required by law to include GCHQ software on their products or be banned from trading in the UK & all it's dependent territories. Want a shiny new iPhone? Fuck You!
- All citizens must log into the internet by 1st entering their ID number (from the ID Cards we'll be issuing*) on to a device supplied by the Government via Capita (probably made in China).
- All people who can't trace their ancestry back to, say, 1500 will be deemed foreigners and deported 'home' or to the nearest modern approximation [One bonus of this policy is that Nigel Farage will suddenly be France's problem].** The exception will be the Royal Family, any rich oligarchs or despotic sultans from oil-rich countries.
- The BBC will be closed down and replaced by Fox News. ITV will be required to provide 24/7 game-shows & soaps to quell the heaving masses.
- The NHS will be sold off to the private sector and all staff (that haven't been deported for being foreign) will be made redundant so they can apply for exciting new opportunities in the zero-hours contract sector. Want to keep the NHS - Fuck You!
- All libraries & Museums to be sold off to the private sector who will make them leaner & more efficient. Want culture - Fuck You!
- The UK will pull out of the EU and all other institutions except the UN where we'll keep our seat & veto.
- We will re-new Trident. We'll do more than that; we'll rent tons of them from America and the army can then be cut to 1 bloke called Sean who does it between turns on ITV game-shows. We'll flog the Navy to China and the RAF to Carol Vorderman.
- We know that we need to be vigilant against criminals, terrorists and commie bastards so we'll extend 'Neighbourhood Watch' to every corner of the country with rewards for informants who let GCHQ know when a muslimic commie peado is lurking in the vegetable isle of Tesco's (actually their iPhones will probably spot him before the STASI*** operative does)
- The Police will told to focus on economic crimes as these are the ones that damage our country most of all. If they quibble we'll dangle the prospect of privatisation.
- The fire service will become the property of the insurance industry. Generating jobs in the 'Putting-Up-Shields-To-Show-You-Are-Insured business sector.
- All schools will become academies and left to the tender mercies of the open market. Want a decent education but your school is shite? Fuck You!
- Local councils will be abolished as there will be no need of them anymore. Local democracy? Fuck You!
- The environment? Well it's buggered anyway so we might as well continue as we are.
- Home going to flood? Crops dyeing? Why don't you go to your 3rd home in the Alps? What? You don't have a domicile in Switzerland? Fuck You!
- Fracking will be speeded up and protestors will have their homes demolished in search of potential gas fields.
* Worried about personal privacy? Fuck You! What have you got to hide? Are you a terrorist peado?
** This will get rid of all those Johnny Foreigners and give a massive boost to the ancestry research community.

Bloody work!
Been really busy a t work for the last few weeks - November is usually a bit quieter but not this year.
Been busy outside too. We saw Klopp win away in Russia. We missed Halloween as we went to the pub and watched us stuff Chelski/RWC Final we went back, tryed on some outfits, lay down on the bed and woke up 2 hours later. We were going to watch the fireworks but it pissed it down so we stayed in the pub instead.
Cheski lost again. Heather NOT happy at all (even told us to fuck off when asked who she wanted as new manager). Then they lost again when he was banned from the stadium.
New John Lewis ad came out. Immediately parodied. Not sure what the old guy did that was so bad he was sent there. Maybe he's Hitler. Moon Hitler. Also why did she send a magic telescope not, say, an escape vehicle? Or food? Oh, it's because he's a peado moon hitler.
Klopp finally lost a game (against bogey team Palace). Law of averages said could't remain unbeaten for ever.
Pakistan won the test series 2-0 after another monumental batting collapse by England.
Still lots of suicides looking for somewhere to happen: lots of cyclists with no lights. One with no lights undertaking a car that was turning left onto Lady Margaret Road (luckily was spotted in time).
In politics May proved she didn't have a scooby about technology when she published the Snoopers Charter 2.0 (like version 1.0 but with extra stupidity added). WhatsApp, iMessage etc now will be banned & ISP's will have to charge much more for access as have to store terraflops of data for every user for a year.
And that's not the really stupid stuff!
Geaoge Osborne got beaten by the Lords over his iniquitous tax removal plans and Cameron was made to look even shiftier & more evasive than normal by Corbyn asking him 6 times whether hardworking families would lose money. Obviously Cameron couldn't answer as he'd be forced to admit that they would. Some £1300 each.
Sonny Bill Willimason gave his medal to a kid rugby tackled by a security cunt. RWC gave him a new one to replace it.

Saturday 31/10/15 .... WE WIN!
Up early and into town for some shopping then over to the Isaac for the game.
Heather got in a bit late and was cheering loudly when Chelski scored after 4 minutes. I congratulated her on getting their goal early doors. JK told the players to keep their heads up and stick to the plan.
We equalised (wee Phil) deep into stoppage time (had to remind H that 2 minutes means a minimum rather than an absolute). We scored again on 74 minutes (Phil again) and added a 3rd 9 minutes later (Benteke). In truth we were the better team all over the park and after the 1st goal sensed we Chelsea were there for the taking.
Heather was in tears - 6th defeat in 11 games.
The Special Once accused the ref of bottling sending off Lieva (he was right) but seemed to have conveniently forgotten about a handball by Terry just outside the area and the animal Costa kicking out at Skrtl. Again.
We were shouting & cheering and the thought that this victory might push the classless cunt towards the dole queue made the result all the sweeter.
Whatever Maureen says, his team were well beaten:
He certainly seems to have gone a bit barmy: after the game he gave a bizarre interview where he replied "I have nothing to say." at least 6 times. Presumably he doesn't want another fine from the FA.
Grauniad match report: http://bit.ly/1M6tX7d
Bizzarro interview: http://bit.ly/1NkJS6a
After the footy we watched the RWC final. A bloody good match and the Wallabies came close but, ultimately, couldn't live with the All Blacks and Dan Carter in particular.
Bst story was when a kid tried to get to the team on their victory lap. Some scumbag security gaurd rugby tackled the child (hope he gets fired & never gets a job again). Sonny Bill Williamson picked him up, took him back to his folks and then, in an act of enormous generosity, gave him his winners medal. Youngster = made up and video went viral.
To mark this, World Rugby, gave him a new medal at the post-match dinner .

Teslathon 2015
On Sunday we donned our glad rags and went to the Technology museum to watch Tesla coils doing their thing.
Monday 26/10/15
Pay day finally!
Up late & for breakfast at the Regal before going to M&S to get pasta.
Over to the SH around 9.15-9.20 and started taking the sales stand down. Phil turned up a bit late because he'd forgotten his badge & had to go back for it. Had everything down & packed away by about 10.30.
Ambled over to RNB & was shagged out by the time I got there. Walked over to MMS with a job that had come in on Friday that Bruce either hadn't seen or couldn't be arsed to do.
After work back into toqwn to meet Meg who was passing through on her way back to the US. It was really good to see her and we had a good chat about all sorts (including how the House of Lords & heredity works in the UK dukedoms etc).
Thence home via Sainsbury's & the Isaac.

A very busy day
Well that was the last graduation of the calendar year for me & thank fucking god for that!
Getting in at 10.15 & setting up was fine. Being busy from around 11.30 till around 19.00 wasn't. Finally left at 19.30 and got home around 19.45.
At one point framing orders were backing up to a 30+ minute turn-round. Even with 4 framing we were going backwards at times.
In all we took around £38k, a £7k increase on 2014, and it bloody felt like it!
Also heard, via Andre, that the NW Cambridge Development is massively over-budget already. Like 100% over (ie double what they'd budgeted for). There's going to be a debate/session in the Regent House which should be interesting.

It's Back To The Future Day*
A stormy meeting at work is a great start to the day! A big problem with CamSIS (applicants not able to upload photos) and John accusing people of laughing at it. Didn't go down well at all!
*the date Marty McFly & Doc Brown travelled to in BTTF2.

Chinese Visas
The Government has announced that visas for Chinese tourists would go from £380 to £80.
As if we don't have enough of the buggers cluttering up the place as it is!
Cambridge to be renamed Chinbridge & Lou commented that we might as well move to China as there'll be less Chinese there than here.

Tuesday 20/10/15
A nice hot shower to start: foot's not hurting so badly but still aware of it.
Finished stuff for Megan. Was going to do proof for dicksplash Daugman who always wants portrait cover on landscape printing. Had worked out a way to do it. Then Bruce decides he wants to do it. Well, I'm not going to fight him for it!
Did a complicated job for a UIS bod: 40+ documents of different lengths and requiring different quantities + all in colour. For once command workstation came into it's own.
Met Lou in the Mitre for a couple then back home for crunchy pancake things that have been in the freezer a while.
Foot still sore but getting better.

Doncha just love coming into shitloads of work on a Monday morning (partly due to people forgetting about deadlines & lectures they are supposed to be giving) & both machines are crook?
Fist up was Richard Hey who needed 50 handouts for Wednesday. Predictably the heap-of-shit colour machine immediately broke down.
Then there were loads of prints for MSM. The mono machine promptly started printing light accross the top of the page.
Two engineers were called in.
Talked to Sue about booking VC suite and she mentioned that she'd seen a document saying we needed to find £0.5-£1M to move PandIS to RNB (building an annexe) as Cockcroft was being demolished in 2 years time. Also that Engineering were due to move to RNB in 5 years. Sue didn't write this, Phil didn't know anything & apparently it came as news to Steve R too! Steve went off to find out who did write it.
As Sue pointed out his would also affect VC Suite, the teaching rooms, the NMS helpdesk and the special exams.
Also some wee shite dropped off a job for booklets for his club never bothering to check whether we could do it. Wanted colour: Hahahaha. Changed to Mono: Hahahaha.
Once the mono was fixed I got some of the printing for Megan done.
Met Lou at the bottom of Lady Margaret Road and went to Aldi for cat food. Thence to the Isaac so Lou could pay Dick for Friday (+ to lust after the delicious Poppy).
Made haggis & pasta (with a stock cube in water for moisture) for tea.
Somehow managed to hurt my foot today as well. No idea how.
Update:
A bit dubious about the 'placeholder'.as these things often end up as the actual thing ...

Rugby
It was a clean sweep for the southern hemisphere sides as they knocked out all the home nations + France.
Wales: Did very well but came up short against a better South African team.
Ireland: A well battered (not helped 1 bellend called O'Brien getting himself banned for an unprovoked punch) team were stuffed by an open, attacking Argentina 15. After being 17 points down they did well to pull back but faded and were well beaten in the end.
France: were absolutely thrashed by brutal All Black team playing total rugby. At speed. Scary.
Scotland: were robbed by a a coward. Craig Joubert is the worst ref in rugby. There's corrupt officials in other sports who look professional in comparison. He shouldn't be in charge of a used match never mind an international one.
Hope a wild animal chews his face off when he gets back to SA. And then Oscar Pistorius blow his cock off by accident.
Cunt!

Isaac Newton 5-a-side champions
After winning 9 & drawing 1 the Isaac team won the championship and a trophy (which they swear was bent when they got it).
Thursday 15/10/15
A long day doing lots of proofs & printouts. BG did some stuff for zoology too (in between chatting on phone & a 90 minute lunchbreak).
Met Heather in the Isaac to watch the cricket, and Cooke's century on particular.
Popped to Aldi while Lou & PD nattered.

Tuesday 13/10/15
Another day another MSM panic. This time it was one that I'd done a proof for & had dropped off. Turns out that, in Emma's absence yesterday, nobody had checked the proof & the lecture started at 11am!
Managed to get them done & delivered with time to spare. Did feel a bit wavy when came back - drop in sugar from carrying the box of two urgent bits over. Had some food & felt better after a while.
Meanwhile Bruce, Kate & Sue headed off to Birmingham. Part of me wished I'd said yes to the trip out but it was good that I was here otherwise the MSM cockfest that was X-ray notes wouldn't have been sorted.
As it's Tuesday it's pasta! I've missed cape doing this. Had to wait for assorted scumbags who wanted to pay for their £2 with a credit card.
Seriously every last one of them should be castrated to prevent their retarded fucknuckle DNA being passed on.
Preferably said castration will be performed with a sledgehammer by a short-sighted giant.

What a fecking day!
Due to a cock-up at MSM a load of jobs hadn't been sent over by Emma (probably busy dealing with extra students who'd turned up unexpectedly). One of them was a complicated one: a mixture of single & double pages, mono & colour. Took about 90 minutes to work out a way to do it (essentially going through & telling command workstation what to do with each page). They only need 295 ...
There was also time to do several others as well.
Yes we are the MSM, not UIS, printroom ....
Was packing to go when Bruce realised that he hadn't planned which stands he wanted to visit, hadn't got nay business cards or anything to take with him to test. He seems determined to use Ricoh even though, as far as I know, they are still off the approved suppliers list. Still he's in charge.
Met Lou in the Architect and had a decent pint of titanic stout before going to the Isaac. Watched a bit of the 1st half of England v Lithuania before home to make a massive, nomtastic bean & mince bake.

Sunday 11/10/15
Up mid-morning & over to work to pick up charger's I'd left there on Friday. Met Lou at the Isaac around 11.40 for Russian GP.
Almost unbeliveably Carlos Sainz started in the race and was doing quite well until his brakes failed. Even more madly, Button picked up some points. Mainly, this was due the huge number of cars that didn't finish due to accidents (eg Grosjean's massive crash), were taken out (Erricsson) or mechanicals (Rosberg & Sainz).
A really good race with lots of incidents. Rosberg's title challenge is over after a 'sticky' throttle meant he was stuck on full power. Funny how mechanical gremlins rarely affect Hamilton's side of the garage....
After the race turned over for the Ireland v France game. Ireland played well but lost a load of players, including Sexton & captain O'Connell, to injury. They'll most likely also loose prize twat O'Brian for punching a French guy off the ball that the ref didn't see but the cameras did. Hope he gets a 15-20 week ban for that.
Chatted with Heather before Georgie popped in & she went to talk to her. When sh came back she shocked us all by choosing her food inside 5 hours! Indeed she took 10 minutes *shocked faces all round*

Saturday 10/10
Went to St Ives on the Whippet 1A service - £5.50 return (cheaper than the white elephant busway).
Had a wander about & got Lou a steampunky skirt from Oxfam for the grand price of £1.49 (plus 5p for a bag)!
Wandered round All Saints church graveyard (lots of headstones from the late 18th & 19th centuries).
Wandered to Burgess Hall for the beer festival & queued up with some very corpulent people. Had a surprise when tried to buy 1st beer: people handing out glasses forgot to mention that needed to buy vouchers to pay. Each sheet was £5 and the bar staff crossed off the amount. The bast was an 1872 porter that was yummy. Corpulent people sat next to us and promptly starting grazing on sausagesm=, crisps, fried chicken etc - they did have a cucumber but that's not fooling anybody. In between beer/cider & stuffing their faceholes thay played 'CAH'.
While we there we heard that Carlos Sainz had had a major crash. He buried the car in the tecpro barriers & had to be excavated by the marshalls. He was taken to hospital by helicopter & given loads of tests but, thankfully, they couldn't find anything wrong & he was released later in the evening.
After about 3-4 hours we pushed off to get some retsina. Love that wine shop in St Ives - where else can you get wine from Greece, the Lebanon or India?
Went to Budgen's for cat food: thought that place was supposed to be cheap - it was more expensive than Nasreen's.
Went to the White Hart and watched the end of the Scotland v Samoa match (brilliant game) and the start of the Wales v Australia match before catching the bus back to Cambridge. Went into the Isaac to watch the end of the game then home to watch TV. Lou fell asleep by 21.30.

Wednesday 07/10/15
A somewhat frustrating day. Took stuff over to MSM and then dropped cards off at the Cavendish lab. Woman on reception (where I've left them before) directed me to their stores to leave them. That's what you get for trying to do a favour: next time I'll send them via UMS!
Emma's urgent stuff finally came in around 14.00. No proofs required as no time. Did the 1st one & then an engineer turned up. He did some fiddling but didn't have one of the parts.
Printed 2nd one for Emma. Wondered why masses of space. Upon checking it was because the twat had got a P cover but L pages. Sorted & printed (and no time so bollox to fact logo running off page). Delivered by 16.00.
On one of the trips to MSM saw 3 home delivery vans which prompted me to do a bit of research comparing stores. It's a bit hard as even notionally the same items are labelled differently (eg 80gm in 1 v 100g in another ). Add the bewildering delivery charges and that's a recipe for confusion. That said, if we went to Asda or Tesco's we'd be paying ca £8 in taxi fares anyway. One of the most surprising things was that Tesco's came out far more expensive than I'd anticipated.
Went home & had remains of pasta while listening to the last couple of episodes of "The News Quiz' then reading.

More farce at FIFA - Blatter & Platinin (probably) suspended
There are reports that both Blatter & Platini have been 'suspended' from 'all football related activity.'
Their replacements don't actually inspire confidence,: according to the Telegraph:
Their replacements don't actually inspire confidence,: according to the Telegraph:
Blatter [will be] replaced temporarily by senior vice-president Issa Hayatou, who has previously been censured by the International Olympic Committee over bribery claims.
Deputising for Platini at Uefa would be the Spaniard Ángel María Villar Llona, who is under investigation by Fifa’s ethics committee for refusing to cooperate with its inquiry into the award of the next two World Cups.

Early breakkie then printing last of 1B jobs for Emma. Took them over & woman at reception (who I've seen 3-4times) claimed not to have seen me before.
Emma said that she had 2 more for Thursday AM that she'd send over in the afternoon. Nothing like doing stuff at the last minute...
Did loads of stuff for Megan but no sign of the other stuff.
Met Lou @ home and made a massive pasta dish. Nomtastic for me but Lou found it a tad too spicy.

Redundancy Ramifications of Rogers Reign Remain
Or some such nonesense in all the papers etc.
Honestly, you'd think that a football mamager had never been given the order of the spanish archer before!
Away from fevered speculation about which Jurgen Klopp would take over there was also specualtion about 'chaos' as people had to pay 5p for a plastic carrier bag. Unlike Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland etc where they managed to adjust to the change without resorting to killing shop-workers or each other!
Took the large load of handbooks to MSM & a couple of boxes to CL too.
Met Lou in the Isaac. Read my book while sipping Guinness. Also read the dignified statement from Rogers released via the LMA: http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/195215-brendan-rodgers-lma-statement
Also Lou was telling me how, despite the deadline being last week, and despite the materials being printed, 3 fuck-brained bum-smears came in and asked if it was too late to make changes to their lecture notes. Honestly they are as bad as the witless cock-suckers who pay £9k a year.

Sunday 04/10/15
Up late and straight over to the Isaac for the Derby match & lunch.
Lou had booked one of the Lamb specials: Lamb steak with mediterranean couscous, tzatziki & roasted vine tomatoes. She said it was delicious and all the flavours went together. Had a try of the couscous & tzatziki & agree they were tasty.
LFC are like the England team: look good on paper but awful on grass. Everton over-ran us in midfield (Phil was hardly seen) but Ings scored a good goal. Then, after some excellent saves from Simon, we hit the self-destruct button again. Emre Can's attempted clearance hit Martin S and fell at the feet of Lukaku who hit an instinctive shot into the net a couple of minutes before half-time.
The second half was a bit dull though there was another round of handbags (Can & Barkley had started it) when Lukaku bravely/rashly decided to have a go at Sahko.
In the end a point a piece was probably a fair result.
Heather came in & ordered the lamb as well & both agreed that it might be one of the best specials they'd had.
Watched the Arsenal v ManU. The Gunners hit 2 goals in as many minutes & were 3-0 inside 20 minutes. Saw some ManU fans (who were all strangely quiet) slink away. ManU were better in the 2nd half, wouldn't have been difficult but couldn't get even one back.
Which isn't funny.
Was browsing twitter around 18.30 when news broke that Brendan Rogers had been fired!
There are some stories that FSG had taken the decision in the week but didin't want to destabilise preparations for the derby and that even a win wouldn't have saved him.
Looking back it was probably inevitable, though should have gone in May/June. It's never nice to see a guy lose his job and he got closer than any manager for decades to winning the title. On the downside, he was 1 of only 2 LFC managers to win nothing (the other is Woy Hodgeson).
I'm sure he was devastated but you can't argue with performances and results. The obvious candidates are Jurgen Klopp & Carlo Ancelotti. FSG have the taken advantage of the international break to recruit the new man & get him in before our next game.

I'm sure he was devastated but you can't argue with performances and results. The obvious candidates are Jurgen Klopp & Carlo Ancelotti. FSG have the taken advantage of the international break to recruit the new man & get him in before our next game.
Saturday 03/10
Up for breakfast relatively early. Went to the Regal but there was a large queue & only 1 guy working (& he was dicking about). Went to Jo's instead.
Went over to thr Grafton to look in charity dshops etc. Lou got 2 necklaces & a hat from Primark. Saw some nice coats. Also saw a kid who was maybe 12 trying a size 18-22 coat on. She was so obese she couldn't actually do it up!
Ambled back into town. Stopped in Oxfam on the bridge & found a really nice waterproof coat that fitted Lou well, was brand new & was only £15. Bargain!
Wen to the pub for a few hours to kill time & at 16.00 set off for the Food Park Night Market. We were 1st in the queue. Found that there was a "Gin Den' serving 'Pinkster' which was lovely. Had a pizza 1st then a rosti

Left around 19.00 as it was getting cold and went to the Isaac. Consoled Heather after Chelsea lost again (missed 'The Special Once' giving a 7 minute monologue).
Watched England v Australia. We were utterly outplayed & the least bad area was the line-out. And that wasn't great. Australia by comparison were better in every department.
A load of cunts from Churchill came in, including1 screeching harpy who brought her own wine & fell over. Hope she gets the pox.
Away from assorted rude fuckers (God may have mercy on them but I certainly wouldn't) England made history for the wrong reasons. We were mounting something of a fightback when Owen Farrel was binned (with 10 minutes to go) for a high tackle. That ensured Lancaster's team are the 1st host nation in RWC history to be eliminated in the group stage!
That's England's football, cricket & rugby teams who have been eliminated in the group stages of each of their respective sport's world cups.

What a day!
Lots of work done and packed up for MSM & the lab. Nearly out of paper as it didn't turn up.
Another day of lovely warm weather - I approve of this October so far.
Had the following from Mum:
Dad had another attack during breakfast so I rang 111. He had a very bad attack whilst the paramedic was here. He asked for an urgent ambulance immediately and we got to A&E very quickly. They had trouble stabilising the heart beat and he had two very bad attacks and a few minor ones during the course of the morning. After lunch, not that we got any, various doctors and two specialists came to see him and it was decided to implant a pacemaker today. Up we went to the Cardiac unit, more things stuck into him and around 3.15 he was taken off for the procedure. His specialist said it can take up to two hours, well he's been trouble all morning, their words not mine, so I have come home for food. I have to ring around 6.45 and I have a number you can ring and maybe speak to him, 01244 366529. I have no idea if I can go back but they are keeping him in overnight to monitor him.

I called her before I left and she was still quite upset but had got home as no point hanging about.
Met Lou in the Isaac & she poped out to call mum as well & check she was OK.
Watched Wales edge past Fiji & then hold off the late surge. Callled Tim at half time & got told he was watching it on catch-up, was 13 minutes in, didn't want to know what happened & told to go away....
Called Mum about 19.30 and she'd decided not to go to see Dad as he was having his tea (plus buses rubbish). I suggested that she went to the club for a drink & to be with friends. Plus she could fill everybody in at once rather than hammering the phone.
The I called Dad. He seemed a light brighter and happier. The operation was a success and he was already feeling a lot better which was good news. They were keeping him overnight to make sure it was working properly.
Watched Liverpool play like excrement against Swiss minnows FC Sion (who held up a bannner demanding 'Justice Pour Le 96") managing a draw.
Long past time for Rogers to collect his P45 and play like that against Everton & he will be getting it.

How the fuck has 3/4 of the year gone already?!?
Didn't have a good start as 1 phone dead & 1 sickly as the stupid bint I married decided to unplug them from the chargers as 'the light was irritating' her.
Of course I didn't find this out until 07.10 when I went to pick up the S4 to check on the weather.
Grrrrrr!
A busy morning completing all the bollocks for Emma at MSM.
Mum emailed at 11.30 to say that Dad was back in A&E waiting for the pacemaker to be fitted later today.

Got good news about dad at lunchtime - Gordon DM'd me to say that he'd been released from hospital . They think the problem is that his heart occasionally slows down so they think that a pacemaker would help. No date when the op will be but as it's a simple procedure (day surgery effectively) that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
A very busy day not helped by Emma at MSM suddenly announcing that they needed 395 booklets doing for Friday AM. This is becuase they need to be taken to Chemistry in town and they people who were supposed to do it next week now can't.
Went over to the Food Park (via MSM) - there were loads of people but by the time I got there most had ordered. Got a halloumi & aubergine thing from Tin Kitchen. It didn't even last as far as the Computer Lab.
Met Lou in the Isaac and watched the ManU game with Will.

Tuesday 29/09/15
Had a nasty surprise at around 16.25 - DM from Gordon saying Dad had been in a car accident and had been taken to hospital. Initial details were that he'd passed out at the wheel in Chester.
Tried to get in touch with Mum but couldn't connect to the mobile.
Wen to meet Lou at the Mitre & checked again with same result. Went to the Pickeral as Mitre closed for refurbishment and then onto the Isaac to meet Heather.
Got an update from Gordon later in the evening with more details.
Finally got a call from Gordon around 20.00. It seems he'd had a hypoglycemic attack while driving. Managed to steer car through a gate and stop. He'd had ECG & MRI scans but nothing showed up (apart from slightly enlarged heart probably due to hormones released). They decided to keep him in over night to be on the safe side.
Mum understandably shaken (she said she was going to have a whisky to calm her nerves).
In other news Heather not happy that Chelski lost again. Also Arsenal got beaten by Olympiakos (Spiro will be ecstatic) and are bottom of the group with no points. Seems Wenger decided to drop Cech and Ospina, who replaced him, dropped a cross over the line. To progress Le Arse probably have to beat free-scoring Bayern Munich home & away and hope other results go their way.

Weekend 26 & 27/09/15
A weekend when everyone was away so no meetup with the steampunks or Ali & Tim.
Saturday
A nice & sunny day.
Up & out relatively early. Went to Asda & Pets @ Home. Forgot to get the bloody flea pills that we actually went for.
Went to the pub & sat in the sunshine at 11.45/ Left about 10 hours later after England fucked up and let Wales in for the win. We're now facing the embarrassing prospect of being eliminated at the group stage of our own tournament. Need a big win against Australia (which we'll miss as we'll be at the night market food park).
Sunday
Another lovely sunny morning so walked over to the Botanic Garden. Then went to the Panton Arms for a pint. Walked down a street I've never seen/explored before, Pemberton Terrace, which had some extraordinary architecture.
