Saturday 10/10

Went to St Ives on the Whippet 1A service - £5.50 return (cheaper than the white elephant busway).
Had a wander about & got Lou a steampunky skirt from Oxfam for the grand price of £1.49 (plus 5p for a bag)!

Wandered round All Saints church graveyard (lots of headstones from the late 18th & 19th centuries).

Wandered to Burgess Hall for the beer festival & queued up with some very corpulent people. Had a surprise when tried to buy 1st beer: people handing out glasses forgot to mention that needed to buy vouchers to pay. Each sheet was £5 and the bar staff crossed off the amount. The bast was an 1872 porter that was yummy. Corpulent people sat next to us and promptly starting grazing on sausagesm=, crisps, fried chicken etc - they did have a cucumber but that's not fooling anybody. In between beer/cider & stuffing their faceholes thay played 'CAH'.

While we there we heard that Carlos Sainz had had a major crash. He buried the car in the tecpro barriers & had to be excavated by the marshalls. He was taken to hospital by helicopter & given loads of tests but, thankfully, they couldn't find anything wrong & he was released later in the evening.

After about 3-4 hours we pushed off to get some retsina. Love that wine shop in St Ives - where else can you get wine from Greece, the Lebanon or India?

Went to Budgen's for cat food: thought that place was supposed to be cheap - it was more expensive than Nasreen's.

Went to the White Hart and watched the end of the Scotland v Samoa match (brilliant game) and the start of the Wales v Australia match before catching the bus back to Cambridge. Went into the Isaac to watch the end of the game then home to watch TV. Lou fell asleep by 21.30.
